Puyallup Fair Review

As predicted the Puyallup Fair was awesome. We unexpectadly got free tickets from Lucia's boss and arrived at the fair about 4:00pm.

First thing was to get food. I ate at a place called The Mad Greek where I had a Polish Sausage, pepsi and a big ass basket of fries which they gave me for free. Once food was out of the way we hit the animal exhibits and had a great time looking at farm animals of all kinds.

We stopped in on the new Toonzville exhibit where I forced Lucia to watch the Let's Pretend Circus show. Which is a circus where they take kids from the audience, give them costumes to wear and give them simple directions like "When she points at you all you have to do is growl!".

The show was fun and had alot of audience participation (inlcuding oohing and ahhing clapping in a circle ("rounds of applause") and such. The kids were fun to watch and reminded me of the Make-A-Circus I was in as a kid.

After that we went through more animal exhibits then through the shops and hobby halls and into the crafts. It was a hell of alot of fun and I ended up getting a new baseball cap with pirate Jack Rackham's flag on the front. On the reverse it says Surrender the Booty. A typical pirate saying on just about every piece of pirate clothing out there. I love this hat!

After alot more walking and more exploring we ended up going home about 9:00pm. I had a great time as usual. I'll miss it until next year.

Puyallup Fair

The Puyallup Fair started last week and it is the one big event of the year I can not miss. If you live in Washington and have never been there, it is time.

The fair is less crowded then hippy laden Bumbershoot and more fun too. Past concerts have featured artists like Jewel, Huey Lewis and the News and Bill Cosby.

This year Kelly Clarkson was slated to play but the first two weeks of her tour have been cancelled due to bronchitis and a severe lung infection. However Hillary Duff is playing the 25th of September if you love the pop.

Other artists this year include ZZ Top, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Patti Labelle, Hoobastank, some known country singers, Comedian Paul Rodriguez and a host of others.

The Fair also features tons of animals and animal exhibits, rodeos, fair exhibits full sized rides including roller coasters and ferris wheels and free entertainment throughout the grounds.

I'll blog the event after we go on Tuesday. Love the Puyallup!

Home Games That Help

medium_homegame.2.jpg
The Seattle Poker Open is doing an awesome thing to raise money for Hurricane Katrina relief. Home Games That Help is the League Director Trevor Trifiro's brainchild in which members of the SPO host home games and donate all winnings to Americares.

It is legal in Washington to hold poker games in homes (as it should be in every damn state, this is AMERICA right!?) so this is an excellent and legal way of raising money for this extremely important cause.

Members who host a game will also be given 25 points in the division of their choice and winners of these tournaments will be given 100. Games will be announced on our new forums.

So far it is looking like a $20 buy in will be the norm but that is only suggested. Trevor predicts that we can easily raise about $5000 within just a few games.

He is also putting his money where his mouth is. Donating 105% of everything that comes in. (He is matching 5% of the total raised personally.)

If you live in the North West and love Poker this is a great way to play some cards, talk with interesting people and raise money for your fellow Americans in their greatest time of need.
