Nintendo A Capella
Now that Google Video is active it's got a growing number of awesome videos. And as pointed out by Boing Boing a search for Highschool will bring up some of the best stuff.
As a fan of the 80s and especially of the original Nintendo Entertainment System, I have to point my readers here for a must see perfomance by anyone who loves the old NES games. An a capella performance of some of our favorite games.

The Goonies and Astoria
I miss Astoria, the small fishing town in which the fictional Goondocks from the 80s classic Goonies was filmed. I was down there for the 20th Anniversary Celebration in June and had such a great time.
I watched the Goonies Vacation tonight and it REALLY made me miss that town. Check it out and see why. Especially if you're a fan of the Goonies, or gorgeous port towns.
More on Astoria here.

Transporter 2
There are some very good reasons to see the Transporter 2. First off the movie was a great action film with nearly impossible action sequences that really shock you when they're pulled off. It takes Transporter style a step further.
The black Audi in the film is awesome looking and I am not a huge car fan so that is saying something and the fight scenes are inventive and outright deadly looking.
Frank Martin (Jason Statham) gets super inventive with a fire hose and kicks the shit out of about 10 guys by himself with one. This sort of ass whooping happens throughout the film and every fight is stylishly brutal.
Other action sequences are done equally well though some are so far fetched that you might find yourself rolling your eyes but loving it anyway.
And while the plot does involve protecting a small innocent child, our hero Frank has no problem beating the crap out of would be attackers in front of him so there's no fear of a castrated Vin Diesel in a family setting with this film.
I give it an A-
Need another reason to go see it?

Herbie Fully Loaded

Originally posted on blogspot on Thurs. Aug 18th.
Have you ever seen a movie and just wanted to cry with joy?
If not Herbie Fully Loaded is the film to do it in. I saw this somewhat older movie at the cheap theater tonight. 4.50 tickets. Me and Lucia chose seeing it over Cinderella Man which just looked kind of gay.
I am really happy we caught it. There are few movies that have made me feel the way this film did. I dunno if it was that we were at the old theater me and my mom used to go to when it offered the newest movies. I dunno if it was finally spending some time with just my girlfriend without having any friends there as we seem to have had so much lately (this is a good thing really but sometimes it's good to be alone!)
It was probably a mix of these things and one damn good Herbie film that did it. I watched the old Herbie movies and it was great to see him in action again.
Herbie Fully Loaded is not a movie that must be seen on the big screen. However that's how I like them best. If you don't want to spring for tickets and you don't have a cheap theater there I highly recommend renting it and watching it with a loved one or on your own.
Herbie Fully Loaded may just bring a joyful tear to your eye and a smile to your jaded heart.

Late Night Karaoke
Two of my friends who went into the Marines nearly four years ago are both in town. Josh is on vacation and Alex came up due to the death of our friend Seth Edwards.
Sunday was the memorial which I have yet to blog. I think I may just keep it as a private memory. I don't think many of my readers will mind all that much.
But Sunday night the three of us went to an Irish Pub "Murphys" a few blocks from my house and got piss drunk on rum and cream ale of some british draught.
By my 4th glass of beer and a warm up shot of Captain's we were all ready to go.
To start off we did "Power of Love" by Huey Lewis and the News then When I Come Around" by Greenday.
Third was Jump by One Hit Wonders Kriss Kross
Fourth was my solo with "You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You" which may be Dean Martin
And to top it off we did My Generation by The Who.
Our friend Ben met us there a little later and did a couple of songs with us and it was great fun. We drank to Seth and we wandered the neighborhood.
It was a fitting night to honor our rockstar friend.
