Waiting for Godot

So I went on that audition for Waiting for Godot and they didn't see anyone's monologues. Just had us read from the script. So I'm there for about 5 minutes reading with another guy. We get stage directions like "This is poetry at it's core." and "This must be stark!"

Often times directors give these sort of images to actors to get their meaning across. If I had a minute to think I would have been able to come up with something more poetic and stark for my reading but sometimes that just isn't possible.

In the long run it didn't matter at all since they posted the audition again, this time requesting only men who can play 30+ and no woman at all. I should mention there were more woman auditioning for this show then men. I don't mind so much for myself. It's the curse (and blessing!) of a youthful face, but what a waste of time for the women who would not even be considered that showed up. Perhaps they should have put: "No woman and only men who look 30+" to save everyone time.
